Course Description
Teacher in Charge:
Toi Ataata is the Māori equivalent of Visual Art, with a focus on Māori art both contemporary and traditional. Through this course you will learn traditional Māori art forms and techniques and modern visual art techniques to create contemporary Māori art. You will also be conducting a case study on a prolific Māori artist that will give you cross curricular opportunities in Te Reo Māori. Instructions, learning, discussions, and task will be conducted with a bilingual Te Reo Māori focus. All assessments are internally assessed.
Toi Ataata 201 students will focus their study on creating an art piece for Ringa Toi, which is a collection of student focused art that displays its collection in Wellington every year.
Students must be studying Te Reo Māori Level 1, 2, 3 or Te reo Rangatira Level 1, 2, 3, to choose this subject.
