This is an internally assessed course with a focus on gaining skills in the areas of reading, writing, speaking and presenting. It is aimed at students who are not planning on further academic study of English. The course includes core assessments which are a combination of Achievement Standards and Unit Standards. There is some flexibility and students may be offered the opportunity to sit the external exam depending on their interests and ability. Students will be supported to gain the skills needed in order to achieve UE Literacy by the end of NCEA Level 3.
