Design skills in the fields of architecture, product design, engineering, landscaping and spatial design. Presentation skills in a variety of modes and media. The enhancement of conceptual, drawing and Computer skills through the submission of design briefs. The use in computer aided drawing programs (123D Design, Archicad 19, Sketchup Pro) to facilitate a progression to level 2 & 3
Note: To take this course as well as Fabric Technology 101 students must obtain prior approval from the HODs of both subject areas. Refer to the standards that are doubled up in other areas.
Note that AS 91067 is also studied in the Fabric Technology course. While students may with the approval of both HODs study towards AS 91067 in both Design & Visual Communications 101 and Fabric Technology 101, the 3 credits cannot be counted twice.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Approximately $35. Students will need to purchase the appropriate instruments and stationery. A drawing board, T-square and access to a PC at home are an advantage.
Recommended Prior Learning
Satisfactory performance in Years 9 and/or 10 graphics, or entry by negotiation with HOD Graphics.
