The course introduces students to geomorphology (the study of landforms and landscapes) TBC, urban geography (the study of cities) and economic geography. A number of contemporary geographical issues and a global study will also be completed. Students will gain a wide range of geographic skills including research, map and photograph interpretation, statistical analysis and critical thinking. Fieldwork visit to Auckland CBD and optional study visit to Tongariro National Park.
METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
Four internally assessed Achievement Standard assignments completed throughout the year (14 credits), plus two externally assessed Achievement Standard examinations completed at the end of the year (8 credits).

$35 course fee provides students with a geography skills homework book and course write-on notes supplied during the year.
Fieldwork: Auckland $20 (expected)
2B8, calculator, set of coloured pencils, ruler, pencil, eraser, glue stick.
Recommended Prior Learning
Students are expected to have strong literacy skills and will be encouraged to participate in Scholarship Geography tutorials. At least 16 credits from Level 1 Geography including credits in least 1 external standard.
OR, if new to subject, at least 80 Level 1 credits from any subjects at the discretion of the HOD.
