Course Description

GATEWAY for Year 12 and Year 13 students

This is an additional programme to the school timetable involving a work placement one day per week for 6 – 10 days and additional courses to gain at least 20 credits at Level 2 or 3.

Credits gained may be in the Health & Safety or Customer Service domains or credits unique to the course arranged e.g. IT, Make Up Artistry etc

Each student will have a unique Learning Plan.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

All work placements and courses are funded by TEC. There may be a minimal cost of transport to the work placement or an off site course.


Recommended Prior Learning

• Good attendance record in Year 11 or 12
• Gained NCEA Level 1
• Aged 16 (or nearly 16 at the beginning of the school year) and be NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Excellent work ethic
• Represent MHS proudly in the community
