Year 10 Fabric Technology

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: L. Van Westrene.

In Fabric Technology students follow the technology process to design and make outfits for the two units of work:
Unit 1 – Cultural Design – You design four contemporary garments showing an influence from a culture of your choosing. You make one of the garments using a knitted fabric. There is a unit standard connected to this unit worth 5 NCEA credits.
Unit 2 – Street Style – You choose a pattern and make a street style garment. The garment is made from a woven cotton fabric and includes shaping techniques. There is a unit standard connected to this unit worth 5 NCEA credits.

This course is a precursor for NCEA technology and Pre-Academy Fabric courses in the senior school.
