Course Description

Students will be placed into either Level 1 English or Level 1 English Literacy based on their results from Junior English and their Literacy results. The main difference between the courses is that Level 1 English includes Achievement Standards, while Level 1 English Literacy includes a combination of Achievement Standards and the Literacy Unit Standard.
In this course students are offered the opportunity to study a variety of written texts, visual texts and oral texts. They are also supported to create texts of different types. The students will be offered three of the standards from the list below, making up a total of approximately 15 credits based on the needs of the individual student.
