Toi Ataata is the Māori equivalent of Visual Art, with a focus on Māori art both contemporary and traditional. Through this course you will learn traditional Māori art forms and techniques and modern visual art techniques to create contemporary Māori art. You will also be conducting a case study on a prolific Māori artist that will give you cross curricular opportunities in Te Reo Māori. Instructions, learning, discussions, and task will be conducted with a bilingual Te Reo Māori focus. All assessments are internally assessed.
Toi Ataata 101 students will focus their study on creating an original art piece with a focus on infusing Māori art and other visual art techniques and mediums.
Students must be studying Te Reo Māori Level 1, 2, 3 or Te reo Rangatira Level 1, 2, 3, to choose this subject.
