Recommended Prior LearningIdeally students will have completed year 10 Food Technology.
This course will comprise of two internal standards and one external standard.
Unit one will focus on Manaakitanga, a behaviour that demonstrates that you care for someone. In this unit you will be challenged to use design thinking to design, create and refine a product for a person, whānau, or community group.
Unit two will provide an opportunity for you to create a product for a celebration of your choosing. The celebration can be Cultural, Religious, Traditional or Personal and can be savoury or sweet.
The external standard will be a digital submission and will comprise of a series of questions related to unit 1.

This course cannot be taken in conjunction with Fabric Technology or Resistant Materials Technology as they all teach the same standards.
Term 1
Unit 1 Manaakitanga.
Trialling and testing different materials and process to develop a successful outcome.
Term 2
Continue with unit one for half the term.
Start unit 2 Celebrations.
Researching your chosen celebration and the history of it's origin. Learning how to use ingredients in different ways to get the effect your require for your product.
