This course will provide an opportunity for personal and social development, building upon self-confidence through a social responsibility model that will include group cooperation, coping with adversity while gaining leadership skills in the outdoors. This course is a mix of leadership and Outdoor Education.
We offer a mixture of Unit Standards and Achievement Standards.
You will get the chance to do several activities in the outdoors - these may include, Hiking, White water rafting, Snorkeling, Camping etc.
If you love to adventure and experience the outdoors, this is the course for you.
Outdoor Education has had a long and proud history at Massey High School. and has always been integral to what we do and believe. Our philosophy is that Outdoor Education will allow each student:
- to develop/continue to develop a passion for being active in the outdoors
- to develop self-management skills
- to build resilience in the face of physical and mental challenges
- to be of service to the community
- to build capabilities across the Key Competencies - Thinking/Relating to others/Using language, symbols, and texts/Managing self/Participating and contributing
Subject Fees:
As Sport and Outdoor Education is a practically based subject there is a cost to partake. This fee covers the necessary facilitators, equipment, and hire costs associated with the course. Alongside this fee, students will help fundraise further throughout the year to help assist with the finances required for the necessary activities.
Course Fee = $200 per student
