Achievement of some NCEA Level 2 credits.



This course prepares ESOL students in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills for academic university study. It is an option to get literacy credits for university entrance instead of Level 3 English. The class is smaller so more 1 on 1 attention is given to UE Literacy.

Various assessments in reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

NCEA English Language Unit standards Level 3. English Level 2. English for Academic Purposes Level 3 and 4.

Students may not do all the standards listed below. The course will be tailored to suit individual student needs.


Note: if a student chooses to do this course, they do not need to do another English course unless they want to.



Course Overview

Term 1
Topic based - Reading and Writing (UE Literacy) plus NCEA Level 2 and 3 assessments in these skills.
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure are also covered.

Term 2
Topic based - Listening, Speaking and Writing (UE Literacy) plus NCEA Level 2 and 3 assessments in these skills.
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure are also covered.

Term 3
Topic based - Reading (UE Literacy) and Writing (UE Literacy) plus NCEA Level 2 and 3 assessments in these skills.
Vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure are also covered.
