Recommended Prior LearningStudy of Dance in Level 2 desired and/or competent dance experience in any given dance style. A high level of motivation and good attendance is essential or at the discretion of the Head of Department in exceptional cases.
In this course, students will have the opportunity to expand and refine their dance skills by delving into the vocabularies, practices, and technologies of various dance forms. In choreography, you will apply advanced principles of unity, climax, contrast and balance to introduce ideas and develop them to resolution. Additionally, students will have the chance to investigate and appreciate the connections between dance and other disciplines, as they critically analyse and respond to their own, their peers', and professional dance works. Students will examine the contributions of selected individuals or groups to the realm of dance in New Zealand, deepening their understanding of the local dance scene and its historical and contemporary significance.
The exam gives you literacy credits.
This course supports Scholarship Dance candidates.
Device, exercise book, pen. There may be contributions to trips. You are expected to bring dance gear to every lesson.
