Course Description

Recommended Prior Learning

Students need to audition for a place in this extension class. No formal training is required but experience in NCEA Level 1 dance is preferred.


Choreography
A strong focus upon the creation of original and extension dance pieces. Students will develop the ability to create work for both themselves and others.

Dance Performance
Students will be involved in numerous performances throughout the year which will further explore dance techniques and the requirements of site specific performances.

Dance Perspectives
Students will analyse and critique the performance of other choreographers and develop an in-depth knowledge of exploring movement.

Health Students will gain insight into increasing their success and performance through the understanding of food for performance and issues surrounding it, especially in dance.
