This course helps students to develop skills to follow a pathway in Graphic Design, advertising, gaming or digital illustrations.
Themes are based on character design (game design and book illustrations) or Branding (Graphic Design and advertising).
Students will submit a 3 panel folio board or animation.
Term 1
• Getting started - Adobe Skills Refresher
• Writing your design proposal and researching to develop your ideas.
• Researching design artist models
• Logo and logotype design
• Image and Illustration production
• Getting started on your character design/branding and layout designs
• By the end of term 1, your first panel should be complete.
Term 2
• Finalize character design and environment design
• Book cover / Poster and layout designs.
• Use the suggested layout for your board.
• Submit: Internal Assessment: AS 91445 Use drawing to demonstrate understanding of conventions appropriate to design (4 credits)
Term 3
• Create your story board / merchendice.
• illustrated books and graphic novels,
• websites,
• app design,
• animations,
• comics,
• magazines,
• tickets,
• packaging
• 3-D objects,
• You should have completed you 3 panel board by now.
• Submit: Formative Assessments: AS.91455 (3.4) Folio Boards (Produce a systematic body of work that integrates conventions and regenerates ideas within design practice)

Term 4
• Finishing, editing, printing your 3.4 folio board for external submission.
• Submit: AS 91440 Analyse methods and ideas from established design practice, 4 credits
