GEO101

Level 1 Geography 101

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: J. Butcher

The Geography course is about how we live in the environment. It builds on what you learned in Junior Social Studies; especially the topics on Aotearoa New Zealand, the Pacific, Australia and Global Challenges. We will study tropical cyclones, environmental issues, world cities, and resource management. There are 4 internal assessments throughout the year and 2 external exams in November.
You will develop a wide range of geographic skills including researching, map and photograph interpretation, and statistical analysis. There is a fieldwork visit to a dairy farm and research conducted around the school.

Geography and Science are an excellent combination of subjects.
