Course Description

This is a University Approved course, which will offer your 14 or more Achievement Standard Credits.  

In this subject there is a focus on the academic study of literature. Students are offered the opportunity to study a variety of written texts, visual texts and oral texts through standards that teach informed critical thinking and academic writing. They are also supported to create texts of different types. The programme consists of compulsory core standards, but also offers the students the opportunity to elect to do extra standards as well as the core. There may be slight variety in the core standards offered between classes. The students will be offered a selection of standards from the list below, making up a total of approximately 15 credits based on the timetabled class of which they are a member.

Recommended Prior Learning

We recommend students take this course if they have been successful in the Level 2 Writing Portfolio, and ideally students who have passed one or more of the Level 2 English external papers.
