Level 2 Art Photography
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: P. Simei-Barton.
The course explores the use of digital photographic processes as a means of generating and developing visual ideas. Students will study art ideas and gain practical knowledge through using SLR digital cameras and Photoshop image manipulation techniques.
METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
Internally assessed assignment work. Externally assessed body of work presented on A1 folio panels.
Course Overview
Term 1
Explore photographic conventions through practical assignment on using depth of field, silhouette & chiaroscuro
Research methods and ideas used by established photographic artists
Term 2
Apply knowledge of photographic techniques and conventions in a study of the urban environment - includes 1 day Field trip
In depth research methods and ideas used by established photographic artists
Term 3
Produce a body of work based on study of urban environment for external folio assessment
Term 4
Complete presentation of external folio assessment
Recommended Prior Learning
Art Design & Photography 101 or evidence of practical experience in use of Digital Photography and Photoshop
A student may not do more than one of Art 201, Art Design 201 and Art Photography 201 without the permission of the HOD Art.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
School cameras available for use by students but own SLR Digital camera can be used.
