Health Studies is the study of the holistic concept of Hauora. Students develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to make informed, responsible, health-enhancing decisions and to act in ways that contribute to their personal well-being, the well-being of other people, and of society as a whole. Areas of study include understanding Hauora; learning about decision making and interpersonal skills, investigating factors that influence wellbeing through the concept of positive sexuality; and influences drug use. Models of Health AS 1.1 - Internal: 5 credits - Demonstrate the understanding of the application of a model of Health – models such as Hauora – Te Whare Tapa Wha Decision Making AS 1.2 - Internal: 5 credits – Demonstrate understanding of a decision-making process in a Health-related situation such as Healthy Relationships and Interpersonal skills Influences on Hauora |
AS 1.3 - External: 5 credits – Demonstrate understanding of personal, interpersonal and societal factors that influence Hauora over a variety of possible situations.
