Course Description

Teacher in Charge: R. Polderman.

Practical work: Drama and life skills are developed through working with others, line learning, devising scenes, improvisation, voice, movement, acting principles and history of Theatre.
A class play is rehearsed and performed in our theatre (BRPAC) for an audience.
Written content: Script writing, journal, research, portfolio, performance analysis and critique

METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
Recorded performance with accompanying portfolios and external.


Course Overview

Term 1
Students will work on performing a class play for a live audiance.

Term 2
Students will continue to develop skills in devising to craft a piece of theatre.

Term 3
Students will continue to build on their knowledge of dramatic components through Theatre Studies. Students will also demonstrate this knowledge through performing scripts.

Recommended Prior Learning

14 credits in NCEA Level 2 Drama with genuine commitment to the subject, or at the discretion of the HOD in exceptional cases.

Laptop or Chrome-book, Highlighter, Eraser and Pencil.

The course teaches valuable inter and intra personal skills that are transferable to most carreer pathways. Skills including: group work skills, creative thinking, problem solving skills, skills in presentation and resilience.
