Level 2 English
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: H. Gordon.
Students who have taken ENG1, ENGLIT or who were part of the Year 10 English Acceleration programme in 2024 should select Level 2 English.
Students will be placed into either ENG2 or ENG203 based on their results from Level 1 English. ENG2 includes more external assessment, with a focus on Achievement Standards, while ENG203 is an entirely internally based course with a focus on Unit Standards. It is important to note that ENG203 leads into ENG3 (in Level 3 English) which is not a University Approved subject.
In this course students are offered the opportunity to study a variety of written texts, visual texts and oral texts. They are also supported to create texts of different types. The students will be offered a selection of standards from the list below, making up a total of approximately 15 credits based on the timetabled class of which they are a member. The programme consists of compulsory core standards, but also offers the students the opportunity to elect to do extra standards as well as the core. There may be slight variety in the core standards offered between classes. Students will have the opportunity to gain UE Literacy.
