Course Description

This course involves planning, designing and prototyping an ePub and implementing a website database. The outcomes will include artwork  that has been found in the public domain and then edited using Photoshop and it will be fit for purpose in the broadest sense. Along the way we will learn how to use complex techniques to edit images. The completed ePub will be viewable on a range of devices including desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. The completed website will be viewed on a desktop only. This course builds on the skills acquired in DTI201.

Our external involves undertaking an analysis of the development of either the eBook or website.

If you are taking TCCOUE as well as DTIUE, you will be able to do an additional Achievement standard worth 6 credits (Conceptual Design) as there is overlap in the courses (ie: TCCOUE students also do the database standard).

METHODS OF ASSESSMENT
This course is solely Achievement Standards which includes one external assessment.

Recommended Prior Learning

Priority is given to students who have successfully passed TCDTI2 or who have a proven excellent work ethic. Other students may apply with agreement of the Head of Department.
NOTE - If a student has NOT taken Digital Technology before they must be prepared to complete catch-up work outside of class time to familiarise themselves with the software applications and technological process.



Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students need headphones that must be brought to every lesson so that they can access the sound associated with the video tutorials. Our system can accommodate both blue tooth headphones and heaphones that fit into a standard headphone jack.

Digital technologies is a fantastic stepping stone to a huge range of careers beyond school in information technology, graphic and web design, animation, software development, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality. Many of the jobs in highest demand are concentrated in these design and technology-related sectors.
