Year 10 Mathematics

Course Description

Teacher in Charge:

Most students work at Level 5 of the National Curriculum in the areas of Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics. All ranges of ability levels are catered for. High ability students study a full NCEA Level 1 course aiming to sit the external achievement standards at the end of Year 10. All other students have the opportunity to gain 2 Level 1 NCEA credits (counting towards numeracy) in Achievement Standard 91034 “Apply transformation geometry in solving problems” as part of their preparation for NCEA Level 1 the following year.


For those students who are in the Maths SUMMIT class, they are working at Level 6 of the National Curriculum in the areas of Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics. Successful completion of this course enables students to move directly to a NCEA Level 2 Mathematics course - MAT200 or MAT201.  

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Scientific calculator essential, 1J5 exercise book, ruler, pens, and pencil.
(Students may use a graphical calculator instead of a scientific one)
