Year 10 Dance
Course Description
Students will develop a range of skills relating to the study of Dance as an Art form.
The course will be delivered via three components –
1.Performance - Focusing on confidence, strength, flexibility and performance skills delivered via a range of dance styles and influences.
2.Choreography - Students will study compositional components via a range of inspirational influences, developing personalised approaches to dance choreography in various styles.
3.Perspectives - Students will study the key components of movement and importance of safe dance practices. Analysis skills will be developed by looking at the works of professional choreographers from New Zealand and overseas.
METHODS OF ASSESSMENT:
Practical work. Written Journal, group work, choreography and performance.
Recommended Prior Learning
Open entry, although students must have an open mind to a range of dance styles and have enthusiasm for the study of dance.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
Dance trips may be offered as and when available, at additional expense.
